The walks and talks listed below are for members of the reading groups only, unless otherwise indicated. If spaces become available they will be posted here.

Sunday 19th October 2014: East Chaldon Walk
East Chaldon became the home of Theodore Powys in 1904. The writings of Powys remained unknown until they were discovered, almost by accident, by the sculptor Stephen Tomlin on a visit to the village in 1921. It was Tomlin’s enthusiastic response both to Powys and to the village – a perfect retreat, unspoilt, remote – that attracted his London friends to visit.
Meet outside St Nicholas Church, East Chaldon at 11.30 am
The walk will last approx 1.5 hrs
There is parking available in the village
If you wish to have lunch at the Sailors Return in the village, after the walk, it is advisable to book in advance

Thursday 27th November 2014: Writers in a Dorset Landscape
Judith Stinton is an author living in Dorset. Her book, Chaldon Herring; Writers in a Dorset Landscape, includes much original research and is a fascinating account of the writers, artists and poets who lived or visited East Chaldon in the 1920s and 1930s.
East Chaldon Village Hall 7.00 pm

Sunday 1st March 2015: The Hardy Monument Circular Walk
Hardy's Monument and the surrounding hills are fine places to absorb the atmosphere of the South Dorset Ridgeway, and the views are spectacular. The walk will start at the monument and follow the South West Coast Path along Bronkham Hill and drop down into Friar Waddon. Here we will cross and ascend Friar Waddon Hill  and return to Hardy's monument via Corton Hill and Hell Bottom - on the Jubilee Trail.
Meet at Hardy's Monument at 11.00 am
The walk will last approx 3.5 hrs with some steep sections
Please bring a packed lunch
There is parking just below Hardy's Monument on the right as you come up from Martinstown. If this is full there is further parking on the roadside past the monument.
